Descent into Madness - New Ships and Weapons for FreeSpace ---------------------------------------------------------- *** Warning: This is the first release of the newly modified ships. There may be some bugs! Installation ------------ 1. Run the self extracting archive and enter the location of your copy of freespace 2. got to the Freespace\Data\Cache and delete all the files. This is so that the new ships file is in sync with the tech database. 3. Create an brand new pilot. I've found that the new ships won't appear in the tech database if you don't - weird! This was one of the reasons why these files were late being posted to the site. 4. The new ships are for use in special missions.... I don't think they will work in multi-player but I haven't tested them. 5. Enjoy creating new situations in FRED! :) Go mine the asteroids..... --------------------------------------------------------------- *** Warning: This is the first release of the newly modified ships. There may be some bugs! New Ships --------- GTH Mercy - Hospital Ship (With new red cross designs) GTBR Pegasus - Blockade Runner (No new maps as of yet - they will be released later) GSAR - Gabriel - Search and Rescue (No new maps) GTMI Dorado - Mining Station (No new maps) GTBX Newton - Mobile Heavy Weapons Platform (No new maps) GTFX Lightning - Experimental Shivan Powered Fighter (Close up map) New Weapons ----------- GTPV-M Proximity Mine RDP-01 - Rearward Defence Pod - Remotely activated Turbulance - For simulating turbulance..... Modifications ------------- Both the Terran Asteroid and the nav buoy are shootable now. They can also contain cargo so the asteroid could contain ores that could be "mined" and the nav buoy could contain equipment packages like a communication relay. New Maps -------- Only a couple of the new ships have new maps and pof files. I will be finishing them off in a few days and will put them on the web site shortly after. Any comments on ship balancing would be greatly appreciated.... Send your response e-mail's to seastorm@cableinet.co.uk That's all for now. I'll be releasing a few example missions in the next few days. John H
