SHIPS OF THE TERRAN VASUDAN CONFLICT (circa 2331) GTF Apollo: Standard space superiority craft, recently added into service 4 gun mounts/ 2 missile mounts/ standard speed 65ms/ afterburner speed 140ms GTF Angel Scout Fighter: A classic recon craft in service since the begining of the V-T war 4 gun mounts/ 1 missile mount/ standard speed 77ms/ afterburner speed 160ms GTB Athena: A recently comissioned lightening bomber used in raids, requires advanced access 4 gun mounts/ 2 missile mounts/ standard speed 65ms/ afterburner speed 135 ms GTB Gorgon: The most powerful bomber in the service of the GTA 2 gun mounts/ 3 missile mounts/ standard speed 55ms/ afterburner speed n/a GTXF Hercules: The Hercules is the GTA's latest prototype for the next generation of fighters 6 gun mounts/ 2 missile mounts/ standard speed 55ms/ afterburner speed 120ms FIGHTER AND BOMBER WEAPONRY OF THE GALACTIC TERRAN ALLIANCE (circa 2331) GTW HL-14: Xenon laser weapon - uses a magentic seal in order to focus the Xenon gas to form a lens which is used to focus a minute shifting phase radiation pulse, the result is a phasing focused energy pulse which sears weakpoints within molecular clusters. The HL-14 is by far more effective than the new ML-16 Laser for a pilot with skill since the HL-14 has a much slower refire rate then the ML-16. The GTA issues HL-14 Lasers to every fighter and bomber in service. GTW ML-16: Argon laser weapon - uses transparent ceramic technology in order to create an optical system that is extremely durable and stable under battle conditions - provides adequate destructive damage to the hull of enemy ships by vaporizing molecular bonds at the target area and destabilizing molecular bonds across the grain of the hull material. The GTA issues ML-16 Lasers to every fighter and bomber in service. GTW - 24 Plasma Cannon: The GTW-24 Plasma Cannon is the GTA's most powerful and classified weapon system. Developed by the Pheonix Labs, the Plasma Cannon is still within prototype stages and is only available to personel with high access privlages. The Plasma Cannon launches a volitile ball of high yield plasma that detonates at an ammount of 250 cubic meteres mass-to-energy ratio. The Plasma Cannon has an extremely low refire rate, thus designed for anti-capital ship use. In tests the Plasma cannon is completely ineffective against energy screens, and also against armor types that absorb directed energy, GTA command is currently working on mass producing these materials to render this weapon obselete in case the Vasudans capture this device. GTW - 41 Disruptor Cannon: A gas-focused krypton laser - when the ship is in flight, the chamber of the GTW-41 rotates at a constant speed - a small amount of NO2 is injected into the container .05 ms prior to the emission of the laser light - the rotation of the NO2 in the chamber focuses the laser pulse to a state that is only very slightly (1%) diffused - after the laser pulse is emitted from the chamber into space, the chamber expels the NO2 into space (thus expelling ionized molecules and moisture) - the process repeats for each subsequent burst of laser energy - as this laser is very slightly diffused, it is not effective as a destructive weapon, but as a tactical weapon - the Disruptor Cannon is best suited and is used for the permanent disabling of enemy ship subsystems. The Disruptor Cannon should be utilized in all capture operations in order to minimize risk of targets destruction. GTW - X Neutron Flux Cannon: The GTA's latest prototype weapon, currently the Neutron Flux Cannon appears to be the GTA's best hope for a weapon that will finally defeat the Vasudans. The N-Flux cannon has been designed for the Apollo and the prototype Hercules, however this weapon does no damage at all against targets with energy or magnetic screening as based on tests with the Ross 128 deflector array. Currently the Neutron Flux Cannon may be a powerful weapon, but the Avenger project is much more stable and promising. GTM - 2 Proximity Mine: Proximity mines have been used throught all warfare in all of history, the Terran Vasudan war is no exception. The Mine is rear fired from the launching vessel and is proximity detonated to any vessel within 10 meters of it. The main weakness of proximity mines is that they they can be shot down by an enemy, however the mines do have minor IFF capacity and do not detonate when only a friendly ship is near, however some Vasudan pilots have used mines to their advantage by flying close in a dogfight to detonate them and afterburn away from the explosion and the result is the mine laying vessel being annihilated. Mines are effective in many tactical situations including blockades, defense, and for cover in torpedo runs. GTMX - 50 IFF Missile: The GTMX - 50 is the next generation of GTA weaponry, the MX-50 uses fire and forget Identify Friend of Foe technology for target acquisation. This means that the MX-50 is a true fire and forget weapon, once fired it tracks on the homing frequencies of a vessel and continues on it's patch towards it's target until it runs out of fuel or the enemy is able to dampen it's IFF signature with decoys. GTM - 3 Fury: Small, fast dumbfire missiles - fired in swarms - GTA fighters can carry more Fury missiles than conventional missiles, due to their small size - used for distraction and other tactical measures - very small payload (3 Kt). Use is recommended in close combat situations and against larger targets where tracking is a non issue. GTW - 1 Vulcan: The Vulcan is the first weapon that was ever issued by the Galactic Terran Alliance space force, the Vulcan is an ammo based projectile weapon that fires a rapid stream of depleted uranium slugs towards a target. Against most targets the Vulcan is extremely effective, but it lacks punching power through the thick hulls of the newer capital ship classes. GTM - 1 Roc Eye: An all aspect standard tactical missile, the Roc Eye has been in use since the first spacefaring craft of war. The Roc Eye does standard damage upon targets and is a standard issue GTA weapon for all craft. GTM - 12 MIRV Missile: The MIRV Missile is a GTA designed missile that when launched detonates to create Multiple Individual Retentry Vehicles which lock on to their target's heat signature and detonate on impact. The MIRV Missile should never be taken lightly, it has been used by bomber pilots as a decoy measure, and by fighter aces as a 'swarmer' weapon. GTM - 4 Light Torpedo: The GTM-4 Light Torpedo is the standard GTA anti-capital class ship weapon, this bomb has a maximum range of 3 kilometers, however any fighter class vessel within it's explosion radius will surley be destroyed. This bomb is excellent against cruisers and transport convoys, however it's fission warhead does not have the sheer stopping power needed to bring down destroyers. GTM - 5 Heavy Torpedo: The GTM-5 Heavy Torpedo is the GTA's standard weapon against destroyer class targets. The Heavy Torpedo can only be used with a permit by a GTA official due to the destructive power of this device if misused. The Heavy Torpedo is a highly destructive weapon if used correctly on capital class vessels and can cripple a cargo depot or convoy. UNINSTALLATION: To uninstall Cardinal Spear as well as it's modifications, open the folder 'My Computer' go to controll panels an hit add/remove programs once there, find Cardinal Spear v1.0 under the list and hit remove, this will remove the Cardinal Spear modifications and missions from your copy of FreeSpace.
