Some weapons (suchas the ml16, disruptor, harbinger, etc...) are modified for the better (faster lock/load time, bigger damage, faster "re-fire" time, etc...). 

The ships.tbl modifies the all Terran ships to have the following: Default speed is 300, when power output changed max is 600. With Aburner it's 1000. The shivans have no sheilds the Cruisers/Destroyers (all of em) don't produce a killer shockwave.
