*Introduction*

Thank you all for spending the time to download our first installment of THE NUBIAN CONFLICT otherwise known as NC. In June when Volition & Interplay released DFS to the waiting public, they had to know they had a great product. FRED has allowed us users to become our own designers\storytellers in a way no other space sim has ever before! Volition and Interplay should be commended and thanked for the full release of FRED.

All American Flight Test Center or AAFTC is a group of computer and flight sim nuts that have fallen in love with DFS and FRED. If you have any flight sims like ATF, SWOTL, XWING etc.. then you may have been a user of some of our past products. We hope that you will enjoy our latest product.

NC is a somewhat unique approach in that the story is an on going saga that unfolds over several tours of duty or episodes. The first episode\tour of duty (first four missions) sets the stage for the conflict that will unfold over the next few months on the internet. We plan on releasing mission packs of three to four missions that push the story on to the next level, as they are completed.

*Files and File Placement*

Place all *.fsm and *.fsc files into the Freespace\data\missions sub-directory. NOTE: If you want to play the entire episode you must download Nubian 1-4.zip and run the Campaign file Nubian Conflict1.fsc. To run this episode as intended we urge you to obtain ALL four zips and enjoy.
Place all of the files in the ncbriefs.zip into Freespace\data\voice\briefings sub-directory.
Place all of the files in the ncdebrief.zip into Freespace\data\voice\debriefings sub-directory.
Place all of the files in the ncspecial.zip into Freespace\data\voice\special sub-directory.

*How to use NC*

In NC we decided to allow the user (YOU) to decide how hard you want the missions to be, but if a different way. Primarily based on the type of ship you and your support wings use and what weaponry you equip each ship with, the missions can be made harder or easier. The default ships and weapons are set to the optimum for that mission, for instance if your mission is to provide escort cover for a group of transports. The initial set up will have you and your support wings in the best fighter interceptor(Valkyries), armed with Prometheus and Banshee as primaries and Interceptors as secondaries. You can change the "level" of this mission by downgrading the ship type and weapons you and your support wings use(ie. Apollo, with Avengers & ML-16's as primaries and MX-50's as secondaries). We felt this was a better way of representing an increased challenge without falling into the trap of just throwing more ships or enemies that can't miss at the user. We wanted to maintain the integrity of what we desired to present in this campaign. I hope that you expert fighter aces don't find it too easy, but you probably will. We still want you to give it a shot anyway.
